This will be the third year of "In The Can": Singers for Children's Aid Foundation of Canada. The first two years were big successes, and raised $8000 for the cause. The launch of the annual fundraiser was a magical night, and featured some of the city’s finest singers and songwriters showcasing some of their best new, and mostly unreleased work. The idea was to invite the singers to showcase a yet to be released song, workshop it so to speak, or debut something on it’s way in or out of the recording studio (hence, “in the can”.) A special night was expected, but certainly not the degree of connection, heart and vulnerability that the musicians put forward.
This year's line up includes Lily Frost, Kalya Ramu, Barbra Lica, Ori Dagan, Blues singer Johnny Max, Julie Neff, Steven Taetz, Daniel Greeves of the Watchmen, Heather Luckhart, My Pop Choir, Darcy Windover, Donovan Locke and Melissa Lauren. The Silent Auction is shaping up to be stellar! Items include an Epiphone guitar from Long and McQuade, 1 month of dance classes from the Koffman Academy, some fancy kitchen gear, 4 passes to Secret City Adventures Escape Room Games, art work, Goodlife Fitness packages and more. All proceeds from the event go to Children's Aid Foundation of Canada.
