Ori Dagan grew up studying classical piano and upon hearing Ella Fitzgerald’s genius scat solos, decided to devote his life to jazz music. He began taking vocal lessons in his late teens and spent a decade studying voice formally at both York University (BFA 2007) where he studied jazz vocals and classical voice, and later at Humber College where he honed his skills as an improviser and songwriter.

As an educator, Ori enjoys teaching privately and has had the pleasure of working with a variety of age groups, including workshops at elementary schools, universities and community centres. His ultimate goal is to help each student discover the inherent joy of jazz improvisation.

Ori Dagan was recently featured on blogTO as one of the Top 10 Singing Lessons in Toronto!

The second annual event will feature each musician performing two songs, along with some surprise guests and a silent auction. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada. “The idea is to invite singers to debut, showcase or workshop, so to speak, something that’s on its way in or out of the studio,” says Melissa on the meaning of the name ‘In The Can’, whose event origins grew from her own candid and heart-bursting efforts. Find out more about Melissa Lauren, Children's Aid Foundation of Canada, and the Facebook event page.
